Ordination & Licensure

(Ordination Candidates Only)

PROGRAM STUDY:  2 Years

Letter of Recommendation (from candidate’s Pastor) required for all ordination candidates.

The purpose of the COGIC Ordination and Licensure Certificate is to provide foundational knowledge and skills in core practical, historical, and academic areas. The certificate, at the discretion of Jurisdictional Bishops and Supervisors, may be used as the prerequisite for ordination and licensure. This certificate will also serve as a means of professional development and personal enrichment for other persons.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

To assist denominational leaders in the task of preparing material for the licensing and ordination of future church leaders.

To provide non-credit academic courses that serve the needs of non-degree seeking students.

To introduce students to the fundamentals of the art of homiletics.

To provide practical ministry and administrative skills for students.

To assist in the development of basic competencies in Bible, Church Administration, and Theology.

Estimated Tuition & Fees

  • Application Fee: $30.00 (one-time; non-refundable)
  • Administrative Fees: $25.00
  • Course Fees: $75.00 per course

Textbooks are not included in Estimated Tuition & Fees.

Open to all laymembers, ordination Candidates , clergy, and credential holders.

The purpose of the Laity Certificate is to provide foundational scriptural knowledge and teaching regarding the importance of the role of a responsible lay members, credential holders, and general public.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

To assist denominational leaders in the task of preparing future church leaders and equipping members of the laity to become committed responsible stewards.

To provide non-credit academic courses that serves the needs of non-degree seeking students.

To introduce students to the history and doctrine of the Church of God in Christ.

To provide scriptural and practical instruction regarding stewardship and responsibility in the church at the local, district, and jurisdictional level.

To assist in the development of basic competencies in Bible knowledge, Time Management, and Public Speaking.
